Opening for Part-Time Administrative Assistant

The Miller Institute for
Learning with Technology, a San Carlos-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation,
has an opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant. Coverage is currently needed on
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (20-25 hours per week). There may also be a possibility to work
Fridays if desired. Compensation begins at $14-15 per hour depending on
experience; the right person could grow in responsibility, hours, and compensation
over time. This position is ideal for a college student in San Mateo County.
Duties:
- Telephone answering, screening, and routing
- Dispatching technical contributors based on
client requests
- Document preparation including business letters
and proposals
- Data entry using a variety of computer systems
- Filing (including both traditional paper filing
and scanning/saving to a server)
- Running errands (such as bank, office supplies)
- Typical office tasks such as travel arrangements,
ordering equipment
- Various other administrative support tasks as
needs arise
Requirements
and Desirable Qualities:
- Indisputable Integrity
- High Intelligence (learning new skills,
resourcefulness in problem-solving, tenacity)
- High School Diploma
- Higher education coursework highly desirable
- Excellent written and spoken English grammar and
pronunciation
- DriverÕs license, viable transportation, and
proof of insurance
- Willingness to work in an informal setting
- Schedule flexibility
- Local resident (Belmont/Redwood City/San Carlos
ideal but not required)
- Highly organized and efficient
- Self-motivated
- Courteous
- Eager to learn new skills Š not afraid to ask
questions
- Computer skills
- Familiarity with both Windows and Macintosh
ideal
- Microsoft Office essential (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint)
- Email, Web, Acrobat, etc.
- Basic QuickBooks is highly desirable
- Customer service orientation
- Ability to work closely with others
- Passion to make the world a better place
- Department of Justice background check and 3
