Donations and Payments

The Miller Institute for Learning with Technology provides technology services to schools, non-profits, and learners of all ages. Our fervent hope is to never turn a student away, due to inability to pay. To strive toward this vision, we need your help. Donations enable us to share our expertise where we can have the greatest impact. Historically our focus has been in California, which shockingly ranks around 43rd out of 50 in the United States for K-12 technology access! Besides traditional public schools, we often work closely with charter schools, charter management organizations, and parochial schools serving economically disadvantaged populations. We have projects underway in Arizona, post-Katrina New Orleans, and elsewhere; and we are currently developing plans for projects reaching as far away as Tanzania.

Donations of any size are appreciated and make a difference. Here are just a few examples:

About $30 allows one of our technicians to spend a half hour or so helping a teacher update their software and configuring their laptop for wireless Internet;
$60 covers tuition for a needy student to attend a day of technology summer camp, learning new skills with office productivity tools and finding resources on the Internet ;
$285 covers tuition for that same student to attend an entire week of technology summer camp, enough time to learn to troubleshoot typical computer problems and even to program a robot;

$500 covers a half-day of professional development for teachers learning to integrate technology into their classrooms;
Approximately $850 covers the parts, tools, and software for a disadvantaged student to build a powerful computer of their very own;
larger contributions allow us to create certified technology plans for schools or districts, prepare Federal E-Rate funding applications for schools and libraries, design computer networks for schools and districts, upgrade school servers and computing environments, equip a senior center's lab to support digital photography classes, or organize a film festival where troubled youngsters use multimedia technologies to author and produce their own life stories, sometimes helping turn their lives around in the process.

Donations are tax-deductible. A copy of our I.R.S. determination letter is available for download. We will promptly provide a thank you letter documenting your gift for tax purposes.
