Dear Learningtech.org Friend,

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100
The end of the year is upon us, so I wanted to share something of which we are very proud at Learningtech.org. In addition to our tuition-based afterschool and summer camp programs, we also operate outstanding tuition-free afterschool and summer Science + Technology + Engineering + Mathematics [STEM] camps for locally underserved kids.

Our tuition-free offerings are always full, often with a waiting list. Our students walk away with a new sense of their inner STEM self and do better in school in general. We are not surprised!

Why? Based on a 2012 University of Missouri at St. Louis study on science enrichment programs, a whopping 45% of students who attend a science-enrichment program report higher academic confidence, and 62% report higher confidence in the field of science. These effects are further intensified when the student is from a low-income community

You can make a difference for a child and for our community. We need your help to offer tuition-free programs. Your donation will enable us to expand our STEM enrichment programs to include more students and serve additional locations, changing the academic direction for many underserved children in San Mateo County.

Suggested Giving Levels:

$975 for three children for one week

$325 for one child for one week

$65 for one child for one day

$25 to start a fund for a child

$__________any amount

Donations are tax deductible.  We are a Top-Rated Education Nonprofit on Great Nonprofits!

Here are five accomplishments we feel especially proud of from 2012:

1.  Learningtech.org inspired 300+ underserved local kids to get excited about learning and do well in school though our STEM enrichment camps throughout San Mateo County.

2.  We continued to evolve, morph and offer the latest and greatest STEM curriculum to now include Raspberry Pi, Python programming, and Junior Robotics for K-3rd grades.

3.  We delivered Summit Public School's intensive high school elective Intersession program in Computer Science, now expanding to serve two new schools in San Jose. Curriculum included our "McGyver Robotics Design Challenge" that was demonstrated by students and featured on KRON television as a highlight of Maker Faire.

4. We were instrumental in helping schools, libraries and districts receive awards of more than $13,000,000 funding from the FCC's E-Rate program for Internet access and other educational technologies.

5.  Our IT Services team designed and implemented anywhere, anytime wireless connectivity at St. Raymond School in Menlo Park as a significant upgrade to the computer network system, bringing high speed fiber connections to every classroom.

Thank you for your support and all the best in 2013,

Mark L. Miller, Ph.D.

Additional Information Regarding Donations and Payments

Computer Kids

The Miller Institute for Learning with Technology provides technology services to schools, non-profits, and learners of all ages. Our fervent hope is to never turn a student away, due to inability to pay. To strive toward this vision, we need your help. Donations enable us to share our expertise where we can have the greatest impact. Historically our focus has been in California, which shockingly ranks around 43rd out of 50 in the United States for K-12 technology access! Besides traditional public schools, we often work closely with charter schools, charter management organizations, and parochial schools serving economically disadvantaged populations. We have been involved with projects in Arizona, Hawaii, post-Katrina New Orleans, Tennessee and elsewhere.

Donations are tax-deductible. A copy of our I.R.S. determination letter is available for download. We will promptly provide a thank you letter documenting your gift for tax purposes.

Donations can be made using cash, check, money order, credit card or PayPal. (Please do not mail cash.) Whichever method you choose, your donation will make a difference and is sincerely appreciated.
