Learningtech.org’s Small School Hosting Bundle

Our most cost-effective complete hosting solution for small schools, this bundle includes all of the services most often requested by K-12 schools with fewer than 1000 students. The following services are provided from July 1 to June 30 of each school year for only $500, payable in advance.

Domain name management and registration, as needed, for a single domain name
Domain name service (2 servers on different physical networks)
Web Site, supporting http and https, with dedicated IP address and up to 350 MB storage

Full-function Email, for up to 50 staff and faculty. Mailbox storage is part of your 350 MB

SSL-secured, webmail (https://webmail.myschool.org) with shared contacts, calendars
Support for all popular email clients (Apple Mail, Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.)
Access and send mail securely from anywhere (POP3S, IMAP4S, secure SMTP)
Our Barracuda® Spam Filter vastly reduces unwanted and offensive junk mail
Report offenders who sneak past the Barracuda to “antispam@learningtech.org”
Friendly webadmin interface to add and delete users, modify lists, reset passwords, etc.

True “Mailman” moderated Listservs for parent mailings, school clubs, etc.

Up to a half-dozen or so lists with low-to-moderate traffic

Files and mail are regularly scanned for viruses and malware
Automated, regularly scheduled backups (our problem, not yours)
You name a primary and secondary contact for technical support calls

Our Appropriate Use Policy is to expect that you will honor your school’s AUP.
Primary server(s) located at major data center in Sacramento with redundant fiber optic links to multiple Internet backbones, non-stop HVAC, power generators, and 24x7 operation.
Secondary server(s) located in San Carlos, CA with 2 hour battery backup and 1.5 Mbs symmetrical T1 service. Secondary location is used to monitor primary location, backup critical data such as DNS zone files, and for legacy clients not yet migrated to our Sacramento center

Primary site availability is monitored by our secondary site; status is available 24x7 on the web.

Schools signing up mid-year are offered a pro-rated fee when signing up for their second year of service.

Not a hard limit; if you are a “disk hog,” we will call to politely request that you delete those unused .mov files.

Not a hard limit; if you really need 51 email accounts, it will be fine. We’re reasonable. Really.

Not a hard limit; if your inbox gets too big, we don’t bounce your mail; we will call and suggest deleting really old messages.

Not a hard limit; unless you start looking more like a spam source than a school, we probably won’t complain.

Not a hard limit; within reason, anyone on your staff may call in a pinch -- we will do our best to help them out.
