Services

Research, Development, Independent Consulting, and Staff Development services

Our teams, led by Mark L. Miller, Ph.D., provide Research, Development, Consulting, and Staff Development services to foster innovative uses of technology for learning. Although most of our clients are K-12 school districts, we also work in a variety of other settings, including non-profits, higher education, and workplace training.

A preliminary needs assessment and estimate can be provided without charge or obligation. A discounted fee schedule is available for educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.

With a small but growing percentage of our revenues derived from private donors, foundations and other benefactors, The Miller Institute attempts to provide some of its services on a pro bono basis. In the past, this has involved aggressive discounting of consulting and staff development services for a small number of disadvantaged school clients.

One current area of pro bono contribution is the periodic offering of a workshop entitled, "Your LAN, Your WAN, and Your Wiring Plan," through The Center for Excellence in Nonprofit' Wired for Good initiative. We are currently seeking, seed funding for a project with Harry Wiland involving a highly interactive, multimedia-rich web site incorporating an expert systems approach, to help Algebra I students and their teachers.

The evidence is clear: with proper planning, a sound pedagogical approach, and investment in staff development; technology can make a huge difference for learning. Every contribution, however small, helps us to help bridge the gaps between the incredible potential and the sometimes-discouraging reality in learning technology; and between the information "haves" and the "have not's."
